How To Use Electric Shavers
Using an electric shaver is something more of an art than a science. How you use your electric razor will depend largely on your beard and skin type but here are some general guidlines to get you going in the right direction.
Use Williams Lectric Shave. There are other pre-shaves but none come close to this product (I know I’ve tried them all). Apply it to your face and wait about 15 seconds or more before you begin to shave to allow the hairs to start lifting away from your skin.
Use a light touch. The hairs need to be able to go up intothe razor unlike shaving with a blade. It doesn’t matter whether you are using a rotary or a foil shaver you do not want to use to much pressure. The foils on modern mens shavers are incredibly thin and you can actually damage them if you press to hard.
Do not only move in a straight line when shaving. You also want to use circular motions as well. You should use your free hand to stretch the skin tight especially on your neck. This will help to lift the hairs.
As far as caring for your razor that will depend on the one you chose to buy. All of the main brands including Braun, Norelco, Panasonic and Remington have models that come with a base that will clean it for you.
If you decide on one that doesn’t come with a cleaning base then it will depend on whether you get a foil or rotary.
For a rotary you’ll want to give it a quick cleaning every time you use it. Then once every week or so take the heads totally apart to give them a good cleaning.
For a foil just brush of the blades every week or two and never use the brush on the foil (it could damage it) just blow it out. Then put a little oil on the blades and the inside of the foil with your finger. The oil will make your foil last longer.
That’s the basics but how you use your electric shaver will be your own individual process that you’ll develop over time. So have fun with it.
